MrBeast fans show support for Feastables chocolate bars
Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, the biggest YouTuber in the world, recently asked fans to help ensure his Feastables chocolate bars were in good shape. The company launched in early 2022, boasting sustainable sourcing of their cacao, carbon-neutral checkout, and cash donations to alleviate food insecurity in the U.S.
According to reports, some fans went to local retail stores snapping pictures of the chocolate bars in good condition. LoneWolf, a self-described business mogul, posted on Twitter, “I was at Walmart and saw your Chocolate bar. I fixed them properly. Anything for the team. I even bought the chocolate sea salt one.” Other fans across America also shared their support with pictures and statements of appreciation.
While some are praising MrBeast’s move, there has been uncovered backlash as a result of it. Many are comedically threatening to vandalize the displays. Others are criticizing the rich YouTuber for asking his fans to work for him for free.
MrBeast’s philanthropic gestures can often lead to controversy. His latest voyage through the briny waters of the internet has been about paying for a thousand people’s cataract surgery to fix their eyesight. His recent video, “1,000 Blind People See For The First Time,” showcases his charity towards people who can’t afford the surgery.
However, not everyone is applauding the apparent philanthropy. Some are calling it a case of clout-chasing gone good. Others argue that it’s a way for MrBeast to make content out of charity that is both emotionally manipulative and papers over the systemic inequities that created the problems in the first place.
