The My Summer Vacation series started back in 2000 on the PS1, and consists of games about a child on a summer holiday, wandering the countryside and joining bug collecting activities while making friends. While a Shin-Chan-branded spin-off was released last year, the English-speaking community never got access to any main game in the series. Now, Hilltop and its team strive to change that by developing an “English translation” patch for the second game in the series, Boku no Natsuyasumi 2, which takes place in 1975, and takes the players to a small town on the southern coast of Japan. The story follows the players for 31 days as they spend their vacation days at their uncle and aunt’s B&B. Although no official publication date has been set as yet, Hilltop, who have already worked on similar projects, offers updates and progress for those who are interested in supporting the English-speaking community’s quest for the game series.
Meanwhile, Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Vacation, is Kaz Ayabe’s newest game written and designed by Boku no Natsuyasumi series creator Kaz Ayabe, and developed by his studio Millennium Kitchen. Even though there’s no news about an English version release, it is heartening to see that the interest in the series picking up over the years gives us some hope.
