How to Beat Wo Long’s First Boss: General of Man Zhang Liang

Introduction

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a challenging game with tough bosses like the infamous Lu Bu, demigods, and fiendish creatures. The game is set in historic China during the Three Kingdoms period, with the player taking the role of a militia soldier tasked with ending a peasant rebellion fueled by drugs and anger. However, defeating the bad guy Taoist in Black is no easy task, as you have to overcome a series of generals and warlords he’s recruited. The first boss, the giant spiked-club-wielding Zhang Liang (the General of Man), can be a hard-won victory if you don’t know what to do. Fortunately, in this guide, we’ll walk you through how to defeat Zhang Liang and take the first step towards Taoist in Black.

The Boss Fight

Zhang Liang is a two-phased boss fight that occurs about 30 minutes into the game’s tutorial section. In the first phase, you will battle him on a moonlit mountaintop lined with beautiful white flowers and various stone pillars. He is something of a skill check, striking hard and attacking relentlessly. Liang has high defense and is pretty quick on the field, so beware of his combos that can end you in one hit. Fortunately, Liang is much easier than you might think if you keep up the pressure, guard and deflect when possible, and land those crucial fatal strikes once his spirit’s broken.

The Second Phase

The second phase begins once you deplete Liang’s health bar, and he takes the performance-enhancing drug Elixir, deforming his left arm into something snake-like with blood-filled crystals. You should prepare for hell as your opponent gains new, unpredictable attacks and hits harder than before. Your best chance to defeat Liang is to summon your divine beast, an ultimate attack that summons a legendary animal to aid you in battle either by performing an AOE attack or imbuing your weapons with an element such as electricity or fire. The moment you see something glowing on the bottom right side of the screen, spam triangle and circle on PlayStation, B and Y on Xbox, to summon the divine beast and turn Liang into dragon food.

Conclusion

In conclusion, defeating the first boss in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is not an easy feat, especially if you don’t know what to do. However, with the right techniques and tactics, you can defeat Zhang Liang and take your first step towards ending the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Remember, attacking relentlessly and summoning your divine beast is key to defeating this powerful enemy.
